Destash Giveaway!!!!!!!

NOTE :: Destash Giveaway is now OVER!!!!
Winner to be announced Saturday April 4th, 6am PDT

This week has been a rough one. Last week involved Bronchitis, antibiotics and cough medicine…..this week entailed a day and a half of excruciating tooth pain and a 3 hour Root Canal on Wednesday. Or……was it Thursday?????? ‘Errrrr……anyway, needless to say, I have been going stir crazy at home and thought it was about time for a little excitement around here (on my blog).

How about a Giveaway????!!!!!!!

I recently discovered that I have an allergy to Acrylic. I pick up the yarn, begin crocheting and all of a sudden, my nose is running and I am sneezing my brains out. It took a short while before I realized……..perhaps it’s the acrylic fiber. It never happens when I’m using wool, angora, cashmere.

Now that I’ve stopped using it, I haven’t had any problems since. Perfect! Problem solved. But that leaves me with a dilemma.

WHAT to do with all that acrylic and acrylic blend yarn in my stash?????

Well, dear readers…..I think you’ve figured out where I’m going with this. I will be giving away my ENTIRE stash, along with a spiffy Rattan Yarn Bag to hold it all in!

  1. Don’t count me as contestant, I need to de-stash as well. Just wanted to say, you have a lovely way of problem-solving. Someone is certainly going be receiving a very generous gift!
Hope this weekend serves up lots of good stuff for you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I hope this giveaway is open to overseas readers as well. I would love the yarn to make baby blankets for friends and Xmas gifts for family. I’m unemployed atm so any free yarn will definitely help keep my knitting and crocheting going! Thanks for the very generous giveaway! salihan@gmail.com

  3. I’d love to be in the giveaway! I’m doing some baby blankets and hats for my mom’s church to give away… much as I love wool, acrylic is better for charity items.
Thanks for the giveaway and good luck to everyone!

  4. Lovely destash – I would use it to make comfort or prayer shawls for those who need them while in chemo – or for whatever reason. I am knitting with a group that make these.

  5. I would love to make a big, squooshy afghan blanket with it. I’ve never had a large enough stash for a project that big!

  6. Allergy to acrylic, how unique? Much better in my opinion than an allergy to wool or alpaca. I find myself coveting the bag actually more than the yarn though I can imagine making some cute goodies for my grand-daughter, a couple of neck warmers, and who knows what else. I’ll be blogging about your giveaway here: http://homemadeoriginals.blogspot.com

  7. Wow, that sucks that your allergic to Acrylic! I have a couple friends that are allergic too.
There are SO many things I would do with this stash, Christmas gifts, Mothers Day gifts, Fathers Day gifts,Charity projects, I could go on and on. Whoever wins will be totally worthy of this awesome giveaway! I will also be blogging about your giveaway at http://coziathome.blogspot.com.

  8. That stinks! Allergic to any yarn would make me cry! I am new to crocheting and so I don’t have much of a stash yet! I have started making Chemo Caps for my aunt! They turned out so cute, I’m going to make more to give away to other cancer patients!

  11. So sorry to hear about your allergy! I would die w/o acrylic yarn. I would really dig winning as my husband was just laid off and no yarn will be bought in my house, so sad.I would make a Fishermans Wife neck warmer, grunge gloves from the Vanna. These would be used as gifts and also make some items for the Ministries I am part of. Saving Stitches ~ anything for those in need or homeless and My Prayer Shawl Ministry ~ Shawls for terminal patients or who have suffered a loss etc. The yarn would be put to good use. Thanks for a great giveaway.

And as to the acrylic allergy, I’m the same way with the poly brocades I sew sometimes. My nose gets all stuffy and I start to sneeze.

  13. Sorry to hear about the allergy, but I’m glad that you figured out what was going on! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll likely use the stash to go towards holiday gifts this year.

first, i’m so sorry for all of the sickness you’ve been going through. how awful!
this giveaway is so awesome! i have a long list of xmas gifts to start on – after i finish the baby gifts which i need to do for this summer. but honestly, i think one of the first things i’d do is make myself something. i realized the other day as we went for a walk and all of my little family had a handmade hat but me that i’ve never once made myself something.

  21. How horrible to have a yarn allergy! That’s the pits. I would love to enter your giveaway and will blog about it also. I have a niece who is expecting her first child and I’d love to make something for her or perhaps a prayer shawl or a cap or two? I can be reached at twistylane at aol dot com.

  22. I’m here by way of Snap. Sorry to hear you’re having so many health problems. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

If I won the stash of yarn I’d make myself an afghan. I’ve made one for just about everyone in my family but I don’t have one for myself!

  23. I know you must absolutely hate to have to give away part of your stash. Your stash is almost like an appendage–or at least, mine is!

I would love to win, and I would treat your stash as my own. ๐Ÿ™‚ As for what I would do with it… Well, I’d do what I do with most all my yarn. I’d pet it regularly until it tells me what it wants to be. LOL

    vadotson@gmail.com

  24. It almost pains me to hear of someone giving away part of their stash… I’m so sorry ):
it’d find a nice home here as perhaps pillow covers for my mum or a couple grannies in my scrap granny afghan or these crocheted octopuses that are kind of an obsession or jeez one million different things! haha
    alyssacritt@gmail.com
and acrylic is a pretty nice allergy to have if you can afford it haha ๐Ÿ˜›

  27. A bailout!! And one I can feel good about. (Unlike the others in recent news) A bailout of your bad reactions and a bailout of my meager stash. What a win-win situation. I don’t know of a crocheter who doesn’t regularly give to friends, family and charities and I would likely to all of the above. What a generous soul you are! Good Luck to all. Good health to you!
