a health report and an unsolved mystery…

well, my brother had a colonoscopy yesterday morning and the finding was this.
Ulcerative Colitis.

his doctor put him on steroids to fight the inflamation and a couple of strong antibiotics.
it’s just something he will have to try and manage for the next 6 months to a year.

as for my children’s health….
while visiting my brother in the hospital last night, Jason stayed at home with the kids.
I headed over there at 4:30pm and we sat and watched some tv, visited and finally Kody decided he needed some other form of entertainment.
so my sister and I left for the store to buy him a Crossword book.

the instant that I walked into Kody’s hospital room, my cell phone rang.
I suddenly got a sick feeling in my gut.

“Zander is throwing up all over the kitchen floor.”

at this moment, I was honestly contemplating hanging up the phone, calmly walking back out of the hospital and screaming at the top of my lungs.

I did, however, march myself straight down to the ER Admit desk and asked for Zander’s stool culture results.

negative.

wha……??????

I told the nurse in the ER that he was throwing up AGAIN and that I was at a total loss!
she just gave me the standard shpeel regarding proper hand-washing technique, blah, blah, blahbidee-blah, blah, blahhhhhh……

as if, I am just a big fat slovenly pig, who just leaves the sick on the floor and lets my children roll around in it.

maybe throw down some newpaper to sop it up!

please?

I have laundered all of the thread count out of everything in this house, sanitized the bathrooms and floors. even the couch .
the kids have all washed the fingerprints off of their little hands and I am using Lysol as if it’s going out of style.

I don’t know what else to do.

the doctor has nothing else to say, other than, “just wait it out. keep the diet bland and force liquids.”

does this guy have a family of his own at home, puking all over his $300, 000 Tudor style home on the hill?

I seriously doubt it. otherwise, he may have a little more empathy and a little less condescension in his voice.

at any rate, I have no other choice but to sit here and watch my family endure torment and just clean it up when they’re done.

mothers should all be given a Bachelors in Nursing.
what with all the years of experience in cleaning up after, caring for and putting up with whiney-butts.

not that any mother would actually want to use that Degree, once they’re done raising their kids.
