concert tickets are now available for pre- sale over at the official “Cure” website!
and I have me a ticket!!!!
for the Seattle show in October.
I am going with my sister and a couple of her friends from Portland.
woo-hoo!
I asked my husband if he would like to join us,
and would you believe it?
he declined.
profusely.
as you may recall (if you read all the comments on this blog) he loathes the cure.
with a great deep passion.
he hates them just as much as I hate his Beastie Boys!
and I am sure there are many of you loyal readers who share my hubbie’s passionate hatred for the cure.
and I’m sorry.
not for liking the cure.
but for the simple fact that you don’t!
I know they are not for everyone.
I know there are some of you who feel that Robert Smith sounds like he is dealing with some very personal gastrointestinal issues when he sings.
but I still love the cure.
I am taken back to a time in my life when I was so happy.
I had such a great time.
I was single, childless and instead of going to the mall to scout out boys, my best friend, my sister and I would sit and listen to the cure.
drive around for hours while listening to the cure.
discussing our favorite song by the cure.
but it’s not just the cure, itself that I love so much.
it’s that feeling.
that nostalgia that glows so vibrantly inside me and flows all through me.
it warms me to my very core.
and I love that feeling.

Depeche Mode does that for me! Hooray for the concert tickets- I hope you have a good time.
I like the Cure & Beastie Boys!
Kalurah,
**JEALOUSY**You lucky girl!! Tell Robert I said hi. I know JUST what you are talking about with The Cure and “the old times.” Do you believe how much time we all had on our hands. Time to really sit and think and listen to lyrics. On my first date when I was 16, the guy I was with really liked The Cure also and we went to a movie(I won’t say which one–ok, Sleepless in Seattle…blech!), but then we went to his house and just looked through a Cure book he had and listened to his Cure Cd’s. That was my idea of the perfect first date.
So I have a lifetime list of people I have to see in concert at least once in my life. I saw Morrissey about a month ago. I still have to see The Cure. I saw Camper Van Beethoven(the lead singer was in Cracker) a year ago. And I have to see Stephen Malkmus(he was in Pavement).
Anyway, a girl can dream…

P.S. So what’s your favorite Cure song? I’ll have to think about mine.
Heather,
Depeche Mode does the same thing for me, too.
If you love them you HAVE to see Modern Girls!
It is classic. the entire movie is done by Depeche Mode. okay, it’s a really BAD 80’s movie but you MUST see it.
right now!!!
if you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll try to get you a copy. “it’s THAT important!
Laurie,
of course I will say “hi” to Robert for you!
have any underwear you want me to throw on stage at him? (tee, hee)
your date when you were 16 reminds me of that one scene from “Singles”.when they are looking at records on the floor of his kitchen.
classic.
and do NOT tell me you haven’t seen Singles?
because that would just be wrong.
it’s a great movie. even if it does have members of Pearl Jam in it. 😉
favorite cure song?
oh dear.
too many to mention.
“if only tonight we could sleep” is pretty high up there on my list.
“to wish impossible things”, “from the edge of the deep green sea”, a thousand hours”, the same deep water as you”.
the list goes on.
I can’t choose.
but did you notice a theme.
apparently I like the lengthy named songs!
