you may recall my previous post regarding my utter distain with the lack of storage in my kitchen.
I bought a wrought iron storage rack unit and that did help. but alas, as I looked into my sunroom, there were at least another 4 boxes left of all my baking supplies. (so, I like to bake? alot.)
a couple of weeks ago, my mother and I were in the garage and noticed a very sad looking cabinet that looked as if it was ripped out of the kitchen for a reason unknown to me.
it had the same hinges as the ones on all my kitchen cabinets and had the same dimensions as the little nook just to the left of the stove.
but, oh how sad this cabinet was.
I think it was pulled from the kitchen right after they built the house and then left in the garage for the next 87 years.
it was musty, ugly and neglected.
I could not find it in myself to just let all that beautiful storage go to waste so I vacummed the inside, scrubbed it down inside and out with my honey, Mr. Clean and 3 coats of fresh white paint later……
victory. she is mine. and she is sweet.
sooooooo much better than this disastrous demonstration of Cirque de Soleil going on previously in my kitchen.
I am quite pleased with my reabilitative capabilities when it come to things that have lost their luster.
now, to resurrect that large thing in the back of the house that we call a yard…..
*sigh*

SQUEE! How pretty!! I love vintage pieces!! It looks great- I wonder what it used to for and why they took it out?
that looks awesome Kalurah, good job! did you feel a rush of pride after you refurbished that cabinet?… it looks great!
High five!
PRETTY! You did a great job!
It fits perfect. I wonder what the idiot was thinking that took it out? They probably weren’t a baker and didn’t need the space! OR they probably had a husband who thought they’re TOOL STORAGE NEEDS WERE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE WIFE’S BAKING NEEDS and ran off with it. (SORRY uncontrolable rant – not that I had any one in mind 🙂
Can’t wait for my tour!
Heather,
vintage is right! the door has a huge warp in the bottom and when you try and shut it, it pops out! will probably have to fix that later by replacing the door.
Claudia,
you have no idea what a huge pat on the back I gave myself. I am usually no good at bringing furniture back from the dead. I normally give up and leave it as is and call it “antique”!
Galadriel,
right back atcha!
Richelle,
that is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I unearthed the cabinet from the garage!
no, no, I have NO idea WHO you could be referring to!(Travis)
I just can’t even begin (Travis) to think who it would (Travis) be!
drop in ANY time for a free guided tour. and if you call ahead of time, it may even be clean!!! 🙂
