what lies beneath…

this is the image of terror that greeted me when my husband pulled out the stove this afternoon.
although I admit, it is pretty horrific, I have to be honest. I was expecting much worse!
at the very thought of tackling this grimy task, I pictured images of a huge pool of unidentifiable black goo. or a small patch of agriculture successfully growing under my stove.

in all honesty, I was very pleasantly relieved at this sight.

after vacuuming up about a half box of cheerios and wiping down the floor, I can rest easy knowing that yet another one of my exposed dirty little secrets has now been buried….

  1. Actually, that’s not half bad! I’m dreading the removal of our appliances. We’re supposed to put in new flooring this summer–if we ever hear back from the contractor! And, I’m going to die of embarrassment when those appliances come out for the install. OOF.

  2. Kalurah,
Is that white linoleum you have there in your kitchen? WE have that same white “tile” linoleum in our kitchen. It’s a total nightmare if you have kids because it always looks like it’s desperately in need of a good mopping.
About your “BEFORE” pic…so THAT’S where the Dora book and that playing card went!

  3. Oh yeah, and I have a suggestion for that little cut-out/niche area in your new house. It’s hard to tell how big it really is, but what about a grouping of candles of varying heights.
It looks like an older house and I love older houses because they are generally well-built and they have those little “what the heck is this?!” kind of features.
