olympic stair luge…

RULES:

~carry at least 2 heaping laundry baskets full of clothes, stacked on top of each other.

~leave a snow boot on the top landing.

~since your homemade laundry tower is so tall, you can’t feasibly see over the top, proceed to step on the boot, lose your footing, vault up into the air, skipping a few steps here or there and spring forward down the stairway.

~make sure to stick your landing on your right shoulder and continue to slide the rest of the way down the stairs until you finally land at the bottom with one arm inside a now, broken wicker basket and the other basket gracefully blanketing the top of your awkward form.

~for extra points from the judges, make sure to smack your head on your sons dresser just at the bottom of the stairs.

~once you’ve regained consciousness, view the judges scores and enjoy your beautiful shiny Gold Medal.

~ice your knee, ankle, rib and head while you mentally replay your winning run.

~and don’t ever, ever train to do this in another four years!

*note: I am fine. I’m just attempting to make light of this hugely embarrassing event whilst elevating my right leg daintily over my head as I wait patiently for the swelling to subside.
(I only pray my friend, who is a MA for an Orthopedic Surgeon does not read my post today! talk about pain!)

  1. Oh dear. You poor thing!

I’m guessing that a smallish sized child left that boot there in anticipation of the accolades he/she would later receive for helping his Mama win a gold medal.

    Good works, kids!

Haha. Anyhoo, use your recovery time to convince the little stinkers that making a nice hot cocoa for their Mom is just the thing to do. Take care!

  2. Bethany,
this is quite possibly the benchmark of the humiliation in it’s entirety….it was MY snowboot!
that’s right. the very cornerstone of my demise…was MY fault.
I totally am on board with the cocoa idea, though!
thanks for your well-wishes, Betheny! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. oh my goodness…i am glad to hear you are (hopefully) okay…that sounds horrific! i hope you can rest and elevate and take advil as needed and rest some more and sleep so that you begin to feel better soon!

  4. thank you, Liz. I am doing just THAT.

    Melissa,
I’m glad my pain can bring so much joy to so many people. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Oh geeze. I’m so sorry… that must have hurt.

And, I’m an Olympic athlete as well. However, not quite as creative as you. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. I read it! HA HA! But to be fair my second week here I walked off my back step slip on ice on the only uneven spot on my drive way fell on Aric sprian my ankle and had to have my new boss x-ray and check me out. It is still in pain and swollen how long later.

Glad your okay though, I give you a perfect score!
