plasma envy…

this weekend, my husband accompanied his father to Costco to look at new tv options.
my husband’s brother-in-law also went along.

3 hours later, this was the scene.
this gives a whole new meaning to: Home Theater.
a 50 inch monster Plasma High-Def Television.

now the “boys” swear up and down that they tried to persuade their old man into sticking with the smaller options. maybe, one that wouldn’t require having to go and buy a new pickup truck in order to bring the tv home!

they said the store even had one or two that were bigger than this one!
what for? watching tv in your living room from the comfort of your back yard!

I watched the hubbies eyes glazing over as he set this thing up for his father.
and I’m sorry to say……
mine were too.

I repeatedly expressed absolute disgust at this thing the whole time they were playing with it.
but secretly, I was in total awe.
we already have an HD tv and the picture is gorgeous! but on a tv this size…
WOW!
as far as size difference, I noticed when my FIL pulled up the menu screen, IT was about the size of our tv!

but luckily, being a woman practical person, I can recognize the impracticality of such a purchase given our humble and modest circumstances.

but Ohhhh, how I want one!

  1. We have a 50 inch plasma HD TV and I must say it’s the best thing we ever bought. Movies look amazing on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. okay, you make me sick.
    I’m flaming with jealousy now.
I told the hubbie, when they come down in price by like $500, then maybe…. πŸ™‚

  3. I was thinking the same thing! Right brain saying “THIS IS CRAZY, who needs a TV that big………”

Left brain punching right brain saying “WE NEED THIS TOO!! YOU CAN GO WITHOUT FOOD FOR A YEAR AND BUY IT!”

This just means I will need to visit the TV now as well as family!

  5. lol….mine is Ipods. I wanted to hate them, I’ve TRIED to hate them, and yet…I still really want one. :p and a cell phone.

    I have a love/hate relationship with Mp3 players and cell phones :p πŸ˜‰

  6. I am drooling as I see the pic of the TV. We don’t have cable, we barely have network TV, and our “inherited” TV suffers from foggy screen. Ahhh. I want a new TV. First, a new camera…. Did I mention that my birthday is coming up? πŸ™‚

  7. AAAHHHHH you didn’t mean you wanted one when they cost $500, you meant they have to drop $500 more!!!! I see whatcha mean! Ok then, wanna buy mine!?!?!?!??! LOL

  8. That thing looks dangerous.
    Step away from the tv.
It’s all about priorities though. I have a wicked old floor model tv and spend all my extra on computery thingies.

  9. The boys swear? Sons and fathers at Costco looking at tvs? This is like the blind leading the friggin’ blind. But it is pretty cool.

  10. Ahna,
